J. Philipp Klaus is an assistant professor in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy at the »Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµ, where his work centers on corporate governance, labor markets and human capital, and the intersection of taxation and financial reporting. His research investigates how firms’ access to information technology capability, human capital, and reporting environments shape financial reporting quality and market outcomes.

Klaus’s scholarship appears in leading academic journals, including Contemporary Accounting Research, European Financial Management, the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, the Journal of Information Systems, and Advances in Taxation, with additional work forthcoming in journals such as the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting. He also maintains an active pipeline of projects related to audit committee compensation, fair value measurement uncertainty, cybersecurity, ESG risk disclosures, and informal executive networks.

He teaches across tax and financial accounting areas, including taxation of business entities, federal income tax, and corporate tax issues, consistently earning strong student evaluations. Klaus earned his PhD in business with an accounting concentration from the University of North Texas and holds a CPA license in Kentucky. He is also a national tax instructor with KPMG LLP and an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Accounting Association, American Taxation Association, and National Tax Association.
