Rick Weinberg, PhD, ABPP, associate professor in the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program, has been named the recipient of this year's Distinguished Psychologist Award by
                     the .

Weinberg was honored during the FPA Convention on Sept. 13 in Tampa.
The Distinguished Psychologist Award recognizes a member who has made significant
and ongoing contributions to FPA, advanced the association’s mission, and demonstrated
a lasting impact on the field of psychology.

“I was deeply gratified to receive this year’s Distinguished Psychologist Award and,
to be honest, very surprised as well, as there are many psychologists around the state
with noteworthy accomplishments who are equally, if not more, deserving,” Weinberg
                     said.

He continued, “Most everything I have done professionally at USF over the past 40-plus
years has been deeply rewarding in the doing — from running an internship, teaching,
presenting, serving on numerous committees, volunteering in the community, etc. The
joy I get from the people I have met over the years, and have had the opportunity
to do psychology with, are the major reasons I keep at it after all these years. So,
to be recognized for what I deeply enjoy makes those efforts all the more satisfying.”

The FPA is the largest professional organization for psychologists in Florida. Its
