Bill Blank

Bill Blank retired in the summer of 2010 after 34 years of outstanding service at the »Æ¹ÏÊÓÆµ.

In recognition of his accomplishments and contributions to the field in Career and Technical Education, Blank was granted Professor Emeritus status by the university upon his retirement.  During his tenure at USF, Blank distinguished himself as a leader in the field of career and technical education in Florida and as a major contributor to the field nationally and internationally.

Research and Publications

Research interests included education reform, authentic learning, integration of academic and career & technical education, academics in the workplace and competency-based education. Books authored include Handbook for Developing Competency-Based Training Programs, Teaching English Language Learners in Career and Technical Education Programs (with V. Hernandez), and Promising Practices for Contextual Learning (with S. Harwell). Other publications include book chapters, journal articles, monographs and technical reports.
