Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership
USF’s Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership prepares compassionate, equity-centered educators to become transformative leaders in K–12 schools and educational organizations. Designed for Florida-based educators, this program develops the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to lead schools, support teachers, and improve learning outcomes for all students. Students choose a concentration in K–12 Public School Leadership or Curriculum Leadership, tailoring their studies to their career goals.
What you will learn
Students will learn how to lead schools and educational teams with a strong foundation in ethical leadership, culturally responsive practice, instructional improvement, and data-driven decision-making. Through coursework and internships, they develop skills in curriculum leadership, organizational change, educational law and policy, school improvement, professional development design, and community partnership building. The curriculum follows UCEA leadership standards and emphasizes collaborative practice, equity, and preparing leaders who understand and can address the essential challenges of schooling.

Career opportunities
Graduates of the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership are prepared for roles such as:
- Assistant Principal or Principal (for K–12 Public School Leadership concentration)
- District-level leader or specialist
- Curriculum leader or instructional coach
- Teacher leader / department chair
- Professional development coordinator
- Education-focused nonprofit or community organization leader
- Education program or curriculum coordinator

What to expect
Students can expect a rigorous, practice-focused program that blends online and in-person coursework with authentic leadership experiences. The K–12 Public School Leadership concentration includes internships aligned with Florida Level 1 Educational Leadership Certification, while the Curriculum Leadership concentration focuses on instructional leadership without administrator licensure requirements. Guided by research-active faculty and aligned with UCEA standards, students engage in collaborative learning, complete field-based assignments, and graduate prepared to lead schools and educational systems with excellence and equity.
